Next week is the annual Association for Learning Technology (ALT) conference in Warwick. Li Yuan from Cetis will be there presenting at the
Learning Analytics: seeking answers at a time of big questions? workshop on behalf of the LACE (Learning Analytics Community Exchange) project. Here’s the session abstract:
At the workshop, participants will be invited to work in groups to develop scenarios around (a) student retention and early intervention and (b) students learning in MOOCs, with questions to be answered in each scenario. Some example visualisations will be presented to demonstrate tools and techniques that help to interpret data and understand learners and their environments in different contexts. A set of quality indicators will be used to guide and evaluate the process and outcomes of data analysis and stimulate discussions around ethical, cultural and pedagogical concerns about LA/EDM.
The workshop is on Monday 1st September 3-4pm in room 0.11. If previous Learning Analytics sessions are anything to go by this is likely to be a popular session, so get there early!
